V6K 2H9 Ref: Your File No. 10:18 “Attention: Mr. R.J. Hennon Dear Sirs . In accordance with your direction we enclose our application for a permit under the Pollution Control Act 1967 ( emissions). ; Upon receipt of your order, our enquiries at several locei . * engineering firms established that none had been involved in assessments -of styrene vapours. Each Suggested different test metnods and none . Would define our costs. Our decision to conduct tests ourselves had been held up by lack . of availability of gas measuring equipment from local Sources. We have now received this equipment and results of our tests are attached. This equipment is available to verify our results. : As outlined, air dilution as currently being employed results in considerably less than 47 P.P.M. ( your standard) leaving our proverty area. Drager tube tests could not register styrene presence at ground ‘level, immediately adjacent to two neignbouring houses; even under ‘maximum emission conditions. . .. Styrene odor is detectable at 0.1 P.P.M. ana without doubt i ‘noticeable by adjacent residents on occasion. ° ; While conducting tests we observed that strongest odors occurred While oulk laminate trim was curing and exotherming. We are now immersing trim in water and appear to have completely solved this ‘problem. oo, Attached please find our data sheet outlining tests conducted. Thank you for your attention. ‘x Yours very truly, MARINS- PLASTICS (1968) LTD P. Devries, Managing Director
