September 9th, 1974 /3. to whatever areas are now zoned for apartments. Alderman Ranger pointed out that the amendment will provide control in the RM-l and RM-2 areas, particularly with res- pect to timing, by reducing the densities of those zones and in this way, if it is felt too many apartments are being constructed in any one area too soon, applica- tions for wzoning can be denied; however, he stated his view that the day of the © vrivate residence is almost at an end. Mr. Bob Spear, 2633 Tuohey Avenue, stated his concern that representations made by residents at Public Hearings were not being taken into account. Mrs. 5. Grimard, 2040 Suffolk Avenue, expressed concern that the saleability of property would go down by reducing the densities in the RM-l and RN-2 Zones. Alderman Ranger advised that the Council is not changing its policy of permitting 18 or 36 units per acre, but is only attempting to control the timing of such developments, and that as the City grows out from the downtown core, serious con- sideration would be given to applications for rezoning to higher densities. The Public Hearing then concluded at 8:00 p.m. and the regular Council meet- ing commenced.
