~3- 2. Pollution Regulations With Respect to the Gravel Industry The Committee discussed a brief concerning pollution control regulations which would be presented to the Province of British Columbia. A draft copy of the brief is attached to this report. The brief was prepared in response to a request from Premier Barrett that we provide him with some background on the problems associated with control of the gravel industry particularly with respect to the lack of adequate legislation covering this type of operation. The Committee endorses the brief as proposed and would recommend that Council authorize forwarding a copy of this brief to the Premier. 3. Wildlife Enforcement Some time ago Council discussed the problem of lack of enforcement by Conservation Officers in the Lower Mainland and in particular in the Coquitlam area. The Environmental Sub Committee has had correspondence with the various departments of the Government and attached is a letter received from Mr. G.A, West, Regional Supervisor offering to make himself available to discuss this particular problem with the Council or Committee, The Committee felt that there may be an advantage in having Mr. West and Mr. Burrow attend a meeting of Council to discuss the matter further.
