Burnaby,

Club May 6, says organizer
Margo Bates.

“Tt began at 4 p.m. and there
were people there until 4 a.m.
Obviously they were having a
good time,”’ she noted,

The money for the ultrasound
was gathered from admission fees
and from an auction of door
prizes,

Among those entertaining were
Skip Prest, John Adames and

Russ Froese who had s band here
in the 60s called Millbank Sound.

Also on hand was singer Laurie
Thain, now based in the lower
mainland,

The oldest person present was
the Rev, George Keenleyside, 85,
who sald grace.

Elizabeth Horsfield, now living
in Bangkok, claimed the honour
for coming the farthest to attend
while Pat McLaughlan and Maria
Sparks (Klonorakis) came from
Hawaii.

“At one time there was so
much noise from people talking
somebody suggested the music be
tumed up to shut everybody up
for a bit,”’ said Bates.

Included on the list of those at-

tending were former hotsprings
owners Ray and Connie
Skoglund, current Overwaliea
president Brian Piwek and former
Overwaitea president Doug
Townsend.

A prize was won by Rob Mel-
vin, now of Femdale, Washington
for recounting the best and worst
of Terrace.

‘His worst was arriving and his
best was leaving. We figured he

said Bates. ;

Among the calls afterward
taken by Bates was one from a
man whose mother died 20 years
ago on Mother’s Day.

“He said he always felt bad
