RECOMMENDATION:

That the 1994 May Day Celebrations be held on the weekend of May 13-15, 1994.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

In the past, May Day has been held the second weekend in May, which normally falis on
Mother's Day weekend. However, in 1994 the first day of May is a Sunday. Maple
Ridge's Mountain Festival is held on the first Saturday in May which this year is May 8th.
It is essential for us not to conflict with the Mountain Festival Parade. Therefore, the:
Parks & Recreation Committee recommends that we move to the May 13-15th weekend,
(which is the second full weekend of the month).
