January 22, 1990/013 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, January 22, 1990, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.C. Farnworth, M.i. Gates, J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, W.W. Stewart, and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer T.M. Chong, City Treasurer J.G. Maitland and Director of Community Planning C. Felip. SPECIAL PRESENTATION: His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced recepiants of Chamber of Commerce Awards and presented them with a Tribute from the City as well a book on the City of Port Coquitlam. The recipiants were Ms. Samantha Kay for Sportswoaman of the Year, Mr. Bob Graham, Publisher of the News received an award for the new ‘Coquitlam News' building and Mr. Michael Saavis owner of the Lighthouse Resturant recieved the Businessman of the Year Award. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Farnworth: Seconded by Alderman Stewart: That the minutes of the Public Hearing and the Regular Council meeting held on January 8th, 1990, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS : His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Alaiv Chateauneuf, 1157 Citadel Drive, who addressed Council regarding Community Mail Boxes. Mr. Chateauneuf would like to know at what stage the City is at with regarding proceedings against Canada Post Corporation and Mayor Traboulay advised that the Council's options were being considered later this evening. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Ms. Jean Norman, 2159 York Place who referred to the closed lane at York Place and advised that the Public Works Committee was considering reopening the lane. Mrs. Norman would like Council to consider how narrow the lane is and the vossibility of an accident. Ms. Carol Siggs, 2151 York Place felt that the lane veing closed is a hazard as far a safety and emergency vehicles are concerned and would like to see the lane become one way from east to west.
