MEMO TQ COUNCIL B.R. Kirk September 22, 1988 City Administrator T.M. Chong, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Increase Scope of Wellington Reconstruction and Drainage Works Project (Public Works Committee Meeting September 13, 1988) Recommendation: That the ¢:ope of the Wellington Reconstruction and Drainage Works Project be increased to include the installation of approximately 130 meters of storm sewers on Coquitlam Avenue. Background and Comments: The Wellington Project has proceeded extremely well and is near completion. The financial data available at this time indicates that we will be under budget by some $80,000 or more. This achievement is largely due to the project management procedural changes made by the Operations Manager and his Assistant combined with the cooperation of the construction crews in responding positively to these changes. Realizing that there will be surplus funds remaining on this project, the Public Works Committee considered the requests of local residents to storm sewer some of the ditches on roads adjacent to Wellington. The Committee felt that the enclosure of the remaining ditches on Coquitiam Avenue (a major collector road) between Wellington and Vincent should be done at this time. Construction drawings have been prepared for this additional work. The detailed estimate for the proposed ditch enclesure on Coquitlam Avenue is $57,000. Council's approval to preceed with this work is respectfully requested. ant ee eee 14 wae TMC/al | T.M.
