COUNCIL - MEMORANDUM OCT 22 1984 TO: B. Kirk, October 17, 1984 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Purchase of Fiow Meters - Works and Services Committee, October t6th, 1984 RECOMMENDATION: That the City authorize the purchase of the flow measurement and recording equipment specified in the report from tha Project Engineer dated September 25th, 1984 at an estimated cost of $15,000 with the cost to be split between the Water and Sewer Unaltiocated Capital Budgets for 1984, BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Members of Council will have received a report on the purchase of flow meters attached to the minutes of the Works and Services Committee of October 16th, 1984, This technical report covers the rationale for the purchase of flow meters and discusses various alternatives. The equipment which is to be purchased is suitable for both water and sanitary and storm sewer measurement applications and its listed in detail on the attached Schedule 2 which is extracted from that report. The 1984 Water Capital Budget contains an Item of $5,000 for purchase of flow measurement equipment. Upon review of the various types of equipment available, it is obvious that It would be to our advantage to purchase equipment which can be used in sanitary and storm sewer applications as well. We are therefore recommending that an additional $2,500 be allocated from the Unallocated Water Capital Fund and $7,500 be allocated from the Unallocated Sanitary Sewer Fund in the 1984 Capital Budget.
