On the advice of Mr. Cocke, an attempt vas made

to arrange a meet*nzg with the local Medical %fficer of

Health, Dr. J.D. Munroe. Mr. Ales NMeDonald, 4 riember

or tne senior Citizens Rousing Society who own Hawthorne
Lodge was invited to this meeting. Although letters ,
were delivered by hand to these gentlemen on March 2, 1973

the request to meet hes not yet been mete
br. Guy Richmend, Burnaby Coroner and local resident,
met with the committee to review available information
and diseuss further action.
It is now the Opinicn of the committee that city
Couneil siiould be aanroached and asked to assist in

bringing versonal Care Facilities more directly under

public control.

III DePFINIT IOUS

The two levels of cere which ean ve provided ina
rersonal Care liome are defined as 1) Intermediate
and 2) Boarding Home Core. Although the British Columbia
Hospital Insurance Service defines these levels at- some
length (appendix I) briefly, they include eare to persons
whose condition is not acute and esnnot be benefited by
either acute, Rehabilitative, or kxtended Care hospitale
izations
