He said, “ail things work to- gether for good.’ ” And that’s hard for us.to believe. He then declared that he never wanted to eat baking powder again! It was awful stuff! Not long after the chocolate ~ “milk”? experience, Emma baked Henry a cake. When -he had fin- ished eating his piece, she asked him how he had enjoyed it, “That was delicious!’ he teplicd. Then Emma. informed him that the cake had been made with baking powder. . Surprised, Henry realized that ‘baking powder which tasted ter- rible by itself, when combined — with other ingredients, could” ‘work together for good,’? That’s how it js with life. Bad things happen. Yes, they even happen to good peaple. ‘ But if-we continue to love and trust God, even these’ bad things will atk together for good.” God Promises it! Whatever He permits to happen in our lives has a purpose in His overall plan, Nothing just happens. Though we may not yet under- Stand it, there is a purpose for it. We need 1o keep on trusting the One who loves us. He sees the © end from the beginning. - The ‘scriptures indicate that there is a great controversy in this world between the forces of good and evil. And whether we like it " OF not, we're all affected by this conflict between Christ Satan. -In this spiritual warfare the fall- out affects everyone. We are warned that the devil is on the loose, “‘seeking whom he may devour.”” (1 Peter 5:8; Revelation. 12:12) | Under these circumstances, we and . Shouldn’t be surprised when we experience difficult trials (1 Peter 4:12). Bad things do happen to good people. The Christian’s life is not one that is free from prob- ‘lems and pain.
