SUBJECT: ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT - LEFT TURN LANE EXTENSION
LOUGHEED HIGHWAY AT COAST MERIDIAN ROAD
(Poblic Works Commitice Meeting of June 7, 1994)

That Council award the engineering design tendering and construction supervision
work to Hamilton Associates Ltd. for the left turn jane extension project at
Lougheed and Coast Meridian Road based on a cost of $8,560 (including GST) as
described in the proposal from Hamilton Associates dated May 31, 1994.

That $8,560 be allocated from the Roads DCC fund for this purpose.

One of the Capital Projects approved by Council for the 1994 Public Works Capital Program
includes the construction of a 150 metre extension to the left turn lane on the Lougheed Highway
«at Coast Meridian Road for east bound traffic turning north. an |

Hamilton Associates is providing the engineering services for the construction of the new
‘intersection at Lougheed Highway and Ottawa Street and has completed some preliminary
- engineering work for the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Coast Meridian Road. As a
_ result of this previous work, Hamilton Associates has submitted a proposal to the City to provide
“all the engineering services for the design tendering and construction of the left tum lane
- extension based on a cost of $8,560. This fee represents approximately 8% of the construction
cost which is considered well below the normal cost of over 10% for this work. |

Tis therefore recommended that the engineering consulting work for this project be awarded to
