THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM DATE: November 25, 1993 TO: Igor Zahynacz, P.Eng City Engineer FROM: Russ Mammel, Supervisor of Design & Technical Services. SUBJECT: Shaughnessy / Lougheed Traffic Signal Improvements David Jay from the MOTH was contacted today to discuss possible solutions to the traffic congestion problems at the above intersection. Because the intersection improvements that are to be constructed by the new shopping centre may be delayed for some time, an interim solution should be found. Mr. Jay agreed to do new traffic counts during the peak period on Saturday, and also use their existing weekday counts, to re-analyze the intersection. Two options that will be looked at are: e Taking some signal timing from the Shaughnessy southbound direction and adding it to the Shaughnessy northbound direction, during the afternoons. oo Changing Shaughnessy Street to a split phase operation Also, the MOTH is presently doing a corridor analysis and signal coordination on the | Lougheed between Coast Meridian and Westwood. Mr. Jay feels that this may have a positive. impact on this intersection. . | | :
