Reg Thurlborn at Westar’s Cammaby sawmill in Hazelton said last week that it is a normal seasonal stoppage due to wet weather and contractors have known it was coming for several months. Whether logging resumes after four weeks remains to be seen, Thurlborn said. The decision will depend on conditions and the shutdown may be extended this year. Westar recently announced a halt to all its logging operations in southeastern B.C. due to high costs and low selling prices for lumber. When asked about comparable conditions for the Northwest operation, Thurfborn replied, "Poor... | dismal... pick your word." ~ CARLINE MUFFLER — GATELIIT VE a , ‘ Swifty Carline Muffler Centre SATE L LITE TV Jons Photo Graphics a ea .
