The documents are supposed to give contractors a clear idea of what they'll be bidding for in order to take over the district highway ‘and: bridge maintenance func- tions. by Michael Kelly This information comes from Ross Husdon, provincial project director for road and bridge maintenance privatization. Two newspaper editors and a televi- sion crew were at the Inn of the West when the meeting began in the hotel’s east banquet room, but after consulting with the bid- ders Husdon said they had voted to exclude the press from the meeting. Husdon indicated that of the ‘five parties who purchased documents four are from. the Northwest region and the other is ‘‘a very large’ contractor from the lower mainland. No further information was made available on the identities of the contractors, __ A four-page summary of the contract package distributed by -Husdon indicates that bidders - will be expected to perform routine road maintenance such “as ditch cleaning, culvert clear- ing, sealcoating and crackfilling, "and re-gravelling.
