A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, BC on Monday, November 28, 1994, at 7:30 p m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Councillors M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, W.W. Stewart, R.H. Talbot, and M.A. Thompson were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator T.M. Chong, City Clerk 5. Rauh, City Treasurer/Deputy Administrator J.G.S. Maitland, City Engineer LR. Zahynacz, Director of Community Planning C.F. Felip, Director of Parks and Recreation KJ. Taylor, Director of Building Permits and Inspections J.D. Sbardlow, and Fire Chief G.W. Routley. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay presented Tributes to the Port Coquitlam Marlins Swim Club and Port Coquitlam Minor Soccer ACE for their success at the 1994 Provincial Championships. Ms. Lynn Eburne, President of the PoCo Marlins Swim Club, and members presented to His Worship, Mayor L.M. Traboulay and the City, a plaque commemorating the City’s support to the PoCo Mariins. PROCLAMATION; © Whereas the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that more than 40 million people will _be infected with the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HTV) by the end of this decade, and Whereas who has called upon govemments, private organizations and individuals to recognize 1 December 1994:as World AIDS Day with the theme "AIDS and the Family", and Whereas Health Canada estimates that 30,900 Canadians are infected with HIV and more than 8,000 others have contracted AIDS since the beginning of the epidemic, and | Whereas AIDS is a potentially fatal health threat to Canada’s young people, and _- Whereas in the absence of a cure or vaccine, education is our only defense against AIDS, and - Whereas World AIDS Day offers an opportunity to enhance tolerance and understanding while communicating prevention information about the epidemic, | : Therefore be it resolved that I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of - Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM 1 December 1994 World AIDS Day in the City of Port Coquitlam.
