July 25, 1988/182 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the "Campbeil Room”, Best Western Poco Motor Inn, 1545 Lougheed Highway, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, July 25th, 1988, at 7:30 pom. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.D. Gates, M.C. Farnworth, W.W. Stewart, and R.H. Talbot in attendance. Also in attendance were City Clerk/Deputy City Administrator R.A. Freeman, City Engineer T.M. Chong, P.Eng., Director of Community Planning W.A. Brown, avd Secretary S. Rauh. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Talbot: Seconded by Alderman Stewart: That the minutes of the Public Hearing and Regular Meeting held on July llth, 1988 and the Special Meeting of July 14, 1988, be taken as read and adopted; Carried. SPECIAL PRESENTATION: His Worship Mayor LL.M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Ross Stock who completed his marathon platform-sitting at Frisco's Inn at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 19, 1988 and Ms. Tina Ney, Owner Frisco’s Inn. Mre Stock's platform-sitting is one for the Guinness Book of Records although his main interest was to raise funds for Cancer Research. DELEGATIONS: His Worship Mayor L.M. fraboulay introduced Mr. Jim Brookes and Ms. Gayle Carter of British Columbia Telephone Company who were in attendance to answer questions regarding Extended Area Service Proposal. Moved by Alderman Stewart: Seconded by Alberman Gates: That the City of Port Coquitlam oppose the implementation of the Residential Community Calling Plan (RCCP) primarily because it represents a modified form of local measured service which could potentially result in increased costs and reduced service to the consumer in the future.
