Peters, City Engineer SUBJECT: Trees on St, Michael Street Public Works Committee, October 20, 1981 RECOMMENDATION: That the trees on the east side of St. Michael Street between Robertson and Angelo Avenues be removed and that the estimated cost of $1,000 be taken from the Uncommitted Funds in the Public Works Budget. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The trees on the east side of St. Michael Street consist of.a mixture of birch and alder and grow within two or three feet of the curb. These should have been taken down when St. Michael Street was constructed in accordance with our Subdivision By-law. However, the Developer was specifically asked to save these trees at the time. These trees are a nuisance to the City since they are verv Close to-a curb and a watermain and may cause damage in the future. whose property flanks these trees. His driveway has been completely broken up by roots coming through from underneath and he has asked that these trees be removed.
