these facts have been made known to those using these chemicals, either by
the companies producing them or the U.S.D.A., who aoprove their use on
forest and rangeland,...and on MILLIONS OF ACHES of FOOD CROPS in North

America.

Although a FEW MEANINGLESS RESTRICTIONS, such as relabeling, have
been imposed on 2, k, 5-7 because it was shown +o cause-deformities,
NO RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN PLACED on 2, 4 ~ D. HOWEVER, cancer atudien
have shown that, in addition to producing deformities, 2,h=D alsa
caused tumors, while 2,4,5-1 did. not.

2,4,5-7 was never registered for extensive use on FOOD CROPS, BU?
2,4-D is SPILL REGISTERED FOR USE ON: ;

*soybeans, asparagus, *corn, *rice, *wheat, *lemons, *potatoea,

At least 20 to 50 times mere 2,h~D.than 2,4,5-T has and is' being
used, although the 2,h-D appears to be the deadlier of the two. .

NO TOLERANCE. LEVELS relativa to human testing have been established
for these chemicals in food or drinking water. ‘Therefore the U.S.D.A.
is violating the 195) PESTICIDE CHHMICAL ACT, which prohibits. the
registration for use on food crops, of any chemical which is residual,
until SAFE HUMAN ‘f0LBRANCE LEVELS have been established.

It is impossible to--establish ‘safe. tolerance levels', as there
ARE NONE for these particular chemicals. THEIR USE ANYWHERE IN NORTH
AMERICA IS A VIOLATION OF OUR RIGHTS. :

BANNING THE USE OF 2,4,5-T on food crops, on which it was NOT
registered for use, in the first place, while allowing the increased use
of 2,4-D is an insult to the human race. ;

Although each state has some form of "pesticide controls", there is
NO LAW requiring the government to respect these controls; Nor is it necessary
for them to file the information required of private applicators in their
use of these chemicals. : ‘

It. has been disclosed that a contaminant: present in their mManuracture
+.-and identified as the 'most toxic' chlorine containing compound *
known (DIOXIN) is 100,000 to 1000,000 times more potent than THALIDOMIDE
in its ability to produce deformites.
