shall be kept and observed under the name of Canadian Environment
Week". “

. Assented to 30th March, 1971
In accordance with this act, National Survival Institute, in
cowoperation with Environment Canada, the Conservation Council of New Brunswick
and the Society for Pollution and Environmental Control (SPEC) in Vancouver, is.
coordinating efforts to focus public attention on environmental issues. during
Environment Week, October 12-18, 1980. Although the Governor General of Canada
“Will. proclaim this week nationally, it seems particularly appropriate that: each
municipality highlight its own environmental concerns during this same week.
Therefore, we respectfully request the following:
a) that a proclamation be made designating October 12-18, 1980 as
Environment Week in your municipalicy;
b) that a person or committee be named to consider and implement
appropriate activities in observance of Environment Weck.
Suggestions for activities are enclosed,
Canadians from all walks of life have a stake in the environment.
What we choose to do now about our food supply, energy consumption, waste and
resource management, and pollution will affect not only our lifestyles but the
lives of succeeding generations, ,
