MEMORANDUM C 0 1 \ C MAY 14 i979 TO: Mayor and Council May llth, 1979 FROM: Building and Protection Committee The Committee was asked to consider the naming of a new street off Hastings Street, In keeping with the policy of naming streets after Port Coquitlam pioneers, the Committee suggests that this street be named BATTISTONI PLACE. Bill Battistont came to Port Coquitlam in the early 1940s and operated a Shoe Repair business on Shaughnessy Street. He was a long-time member of the Port Coquitlam Volunteer Fire Department and was Assistant Chief for a time. He was elected ‘Citizen of the Year' in 1957 and was involved in the Elks Club as well as a number of other local. community organizations.
