HERE “N THERE) ¥VONNE MOEN CHARLES GLEN Hamp- ton, known by his family and friends as Glen, will be remembered as the Terrace paper boy who always had a ready smile and a cheerful disposition. He was often seen riding his bicycle all over Terrace in the past years delivering the Terrace newspaper. Sadly, Glen passed away at the age of 63, May 7 at the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Oril- lia, Ontario. Charles Glen jHampton was bom on March 10, 1936 at Quill Lake, Sas- katchewan, and was the only child of Vroman and rene Hampton. At this time, Mr. Hampton was farming at Quill Lake, and it was here Glen first Started school at Westasta School. In 1945 the family moved to Daphue, Saskatchewan, a short eight miles fom Quill Lake. Mr. Hampton opened a garage, fixing up cars and farm = machinery. Glen stayed in school during this time at Rosebush School. From there, the family moved to Prince George and Mr. Hampton went to work al the Murie Head Sawmill, while Glen worked at the lo- cal Planner mill, In 1958 the Hampton fam- ily made the move up to Terrace. Mr. Hampton went to work as a mechanic for Columbia Cell and this is when Glen started his career: ("MATCH THE | | MERCHANT CONTEST ho BE as the focal paper boy. While living in Terrace Glen married Jackie Bar- rand, only to feave 13 years later, ' _The couple moved to Ed- monton and lived there for many years before they headed off to Ontario, In Orillia, Jackie was happy to be near her family and Glen kept busy with odd jobs. Glen loved music and in his earlier years had a guitar that he plucked away on whenever he had a few spare moments. He always had a great number of interesis and hob- bies on the go at any one time, and was usually busy al some sort of project. IE you couldn't find him, and you knew his favourite fishing spots, you could al- ways find him there, Glen loved fishing and like any true fisherman, al- ways had a tale to tell. Every time the tale was told, of course, the fish grew bigger. Ruth Barclay planned the memorial service for Charles Glen Hamplon on Monday, May 24 at the Ter- race Happy Gang Centre. Harold Sheck delivered the obituary and a pot-luck dinner followed after the ceremony. Glen will be sadly missed by all who knew and Loved him, but his memory will live on.
