- JHE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ¢ t N C | [ | MEMORANDUM : AUG 25 1980 TO: Mayor and Council August 22nd, 1980 FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Re: Alterations to No. 1 Firehall Several months ago Council authorized the City Administrator to proceed to tender on the alterations to Firehall No. 1 in order to allow the use of the western bay for. the new fire truck. The original estimated cost was from $12,000 to $15,000. ‘ We have now had a proper design done by a structural engineer and have tendered the work. There was very little interest from contractors on this job and, in fact, we only received one tender. The tender was from Schellenberg Con-~ struction of Port Coquitlam for $14,590. Mr. Schellenberg estimates that he could start the work within one week and that it would take approximately two weeks for him to complete the work. As an alternative, our.own crews estimate that we could complete the work for $13,500. However, we would not be able to start until mid September and completion would take approximately one month. I have talked to the Fire Chief and he feels that the delay in completion of this work would not be critical. TI would therefore recommend that the City do the work with its ewn forces at an estimated cost of $13,500. F.E. Peters, P. Eng., FEP/vw City Engineer.
