'Since the early 1980's I have been collecting photo
snapshots of people and places in my adopted
community in London and, wherever I traveled,
making performances. As such these images function
as a connection with a moment, a memory, as cultural
artifact and signifier of events. The photos are
reconstituted and recontextualized along with text
to create an installation specific to

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and living in
London since 1980, Stitt is considered one of the
UK's foremost art performance creators. He has
worked as a live artist since 1977, producing over
250 unique performances at major galleries, festivals,
alternative venues and public spaces throughout the
UK, Europe, North America and his native Ireland.
Stitt currently runs the program Time Based Art at
the Cardiff School of Art.
