Space ts already booked at the Shadbolt
Centre for the Arts in Deer Lake Park for
an evening of socalizing and picking up
tips on how to make knobs amd handles
from our four experts: Alison Peargneve,
Celia Rice-Jones, Clive Tucker amd Reith
Rice-Jones. I you have any samples of
pots with unusual knobs or handles please
bong them along for everyone to share.

Entrance by donation. Coffee, tea amd comk-
ies available, please bring your own mugs.

Annabeth ts aceramic sculptor whoteaches
at Davis tn California. In her work, she
lakes established forms: vessels, plates,
bowls and bles os a formal starting point.
Working with earthenware, slip and a va-
riety of textured plaves, her pieces are
constructed from decorauve elements
which are repeated, stacked and clustered,
She says: The pieces are descended from
ideas af fincional pottery or ideas rooted
fe decarative architectural elements or
abstract sculpture. Either way, J've never
felt a need to categorize and name the

Work is often reviewed in American Ce-
ramics and was featured in spnng 1960

We were all disappointed when Bruce
Cochrane was unable to be at the Clay
Symposium in March, but now we have
something to look forward to. Bruce will
be coming to Wancouver this February for
atwo day workshop and denvonstratian al
the Shadbolt Centre, preceded by a slide
presentation on the Piday evening at Emily
Cart institute of Art und Design. Bruce
teaches at Sheridan College in Ontanoand
is renowned for his expressive and com-
plex utilitanan forms made in earthenware
or porcelain, wheel thrown, altered and
assembled, He will be throwing a vanety
of fis complex forms on Saturday and
