It didn't last for tong though, as a few minutes later, Brian Lomas tied the game for Skeena Sawmills. The score remained 1-1 until the second period when Lomas added another goal. However, Farwest Fuels didn't give up. Near the end of the second period, Terry Morris tied it up with an at- the-net goal. The score remained 2-2 until the third, when Morris scored again, this time with blasting point shot that went right over the goaltender's shoulder and into Skeena Sawmills goal. Action was fast and in- tense all the way to the end. However, even with the pressure Skeena Sawmills put on their opposition, solid defensive play and goaltending kept them out of the game. Farwest held on to win 3-2. With the win, Farwest completed their playoff schedule with a 3-1 record, and tied Ken's Trucking for first in the standings, with six points. The feature game for the Peewee House division was between the league's top two teams: Ken's Trucking and Skeena Sawmills, They squared off Sunday, March 12 in the “big game.” A win by Skeena Saw- mills would put them in a tie for first place, however they had to get past Ken's Trucking, who only needed a lie to be the champs. Ken's Trucking gave Skeena Sawmills trouble all season long. Skeena Saw- mills sports a 0-5-1 record against them. A large crowd gathered at the Terrace Arena ta see the final game of the Pee- wee House season, Both teams played solid hockey for most of the first period. Skeena Sawmills struck first, with a goal from Ricky Callihoo, who managed to find the’ net in a huge scramble in front of the Ken's Trucking goal. It wasn't until the second period when Ken's Trucking finally got on the board. Tanner Noble carried the puck on a breakaway and although he was stopped, Michael Harris was-there to scocp up the rebound to tie the game. Goaltending was solid at both ends with saves by Alex Maclean for Ken's Trucking and Nathan Park for Skeena Sawmills. How- ever, Skeena Sawmills took the lead with 12:58 left in the third, Off a face-off in the : McDonald ’s Kid’ _ (lor 5-14 years) {o:am : “Saturday March: 25: a “Ski & ‘PUTT. With the score 2-1, hav- ing a short bench was start- ing to catch up with Ken's Trucking. They gave it all they had, but Skeena Sawmills was on their game for this one. With the crowd on the edge of the seats all the way to the finish, Skeena Sawmills did what they couldn't ail year long, and defeated Ken's Trucking 2-1. With the win, Skeena Sawmills entered a three- way tie for first place along with Ken's Trucking and Farwest Fuels. After a mathematical cal- culation of goals for and against during the entire playoffs, it was determined Skeena Sawmills are the 1999/2000 playoff cham- pions, as they had the best geals for and against aver- age. Placing second was Ken's Trucking and finish- ing third was Farwest Fuels. vr ty vr ALTHOUGH the Peewee House season is over, the Peewee B-team is currently in Duncan competing at the Challenge Cup, against other B-teams from all over B.C.
