Family Places offer parents and caregivers
an informal place to meet and share concerns
and information. Children can play safely with
new friends in an enriched play space under
the guidance ofan ECE co-ordinator. Centres
can offer workshops, support groups and
speaal activities. But Family Places are much
more than drop-in centres!

The Family Place Concept provides a
unique service for parents, caregivers and
young children. They can visit a Family Place
any time during operating hours without
adhering to specific time restraints. A Famuly

<= Fhmnily Place provides a creative,
educational and play experience for young
children from infancy tw school age. Equipped
with a wide selection of toys, puzzies, climbing
apparatus, paints and crafts, the playroom is
staffed with an Early Childhood Education
worker. It adjoins the parent oriented room
and the children are free to wander from room
to room. The Playroom acoommodaies 20 —
30 children and their parents ai any given time.
tt offers very young children the opportunity
to soqalize and learn new skilis, to develop
gross and fine motor skills and to play with
other children.

As part of its objective to affirm parenung
and provide useful information, a Family Place
offers workshops, discussion groups and a
reference iibrary of books, magazines,
pamphlets, etc. related to parenting and child
development.
