Eng.-, Deputy City Engineer/ Operations Manager UNCIL - THE CORPORATION OF THE SEP 87 1986 Recommendations: 1. That the City Clerk be instructed to prepare the final version of the Smoking Regulation Bylaw for Council's consideration and passage. 2. That, upon passage of the Smoking Regulation Bylaw, the City purchase 500 of each of the signs specified in the By | aw as inventory for future use at an approximate cost of $5,000.00. 3. That, upon the passage of the Smoking Regulation Bylaw, the City provide to each premise affected by the Bylaw, the maximum of six of each of the signs required by the premisexfree of charge. The cost associated with giving out these signs free of charge shall be charged against the Environmental Protection Account; and that any additional signs required be sold to the proprietors of these premises at cost, 4. That, a public hearing be held to discuss the proposed Smoking Regulation Bylaw at a suitable time to be selected by the City Clerk. Background and Comments: Council will recall that at its regular meeting of April 21, 1986 a resolution was passed accepting the Smoking Regulation Bylaw proposal and instructing the City Clerk to advertise the availability of the proposed Bylaw for review by the public. Since the passage of this resolution Public Notices regarding the proposed Smoking Regulation Bylaw have been posted at City Haiti and the Terry Fox Library. The same notices have been advertised in The News (May 7 and 14) and the Coquitiam Now (May 6 and 13). A letter has also been forwarded to the local Chamber of Commerce advising them of the proposed Bylaw. Recently, Mr. John Lesiie, President of the local Downtown Merchants!
