Agriculture zoning district to Inalude Golf Oriving Ranges as & permitted use, ALTERNATIVE That the applicant's for the Golf Driving RETOMMENDATION: Range be advised that it would be appropriate for tham to apply tor a Px3 Golf Course Zoning Designation, BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: As City Counc’! members willl recall, that In reviewing a policy report prepared by the Planning Department, It was dacidad the best procedure to follow would be to prepara an amendment to the Awl Zoning Distrier, Following that pollcy direction, a set of draft regulations wera prepared and forwarded to the City's Solleitor's for comments. The draft regulations were to make proviston for deavalopment af golf driving ranges under a limited sat of conditions. Those conditions for development are; proximity to @ controlled access highway minimum parcel size of four hectares urtllity connections raguired After reviewing the proposed ragulations and IImitattons, the solleltor!s have advised, they would be subject to lagal attack and recommended that we not proceed with the draft amendment, in tarms of logal certainty, the Solleltor's suggested that we reconsider the alternative approach of using the P-3 Golf Course designation, By using P=3 Clty Council! will hold control ever whether or not a specific praperty Is sultable Through the razontng process. . As Council! has extended the polley dlrection to proceed with amendment to the Awl Zoning District rather than rezoning, an amandmant adding Golf Orlving Ranges Is bolng brought forward.
