Ranger ‘re Ltr. from June 9th, 1980. suggested that the developer be requested to advise the truck drivers to use Cedar Drive and Prairie Avenue and not to go through the residential area. Alderman Ranger suggested that the Subdivision By-law may have provisions for control of construction traffic and Alderman Mabbett advised the Public Works Committee would investigate. Alderman Ranger advised the Chairman of the May Day Committee, Mr. Bob Hind, was present and expressed Council's congratulations for the successful May Day activities. Alderman Ranger referred to the report received from Dr. Blatherwick ‘Dr. Blatherwick of the Simon Fraser Health Unit regarding the volcanic eruption on Mt. -re Volcanic ‘Erupt:ton. Ald. Gates re Buffer ‘Strip - ‘Brown & ‘Marshall. ‘Ald, Wright ‘re Pitt Meadows ; Day. St. Helen's and suggested the Building and Protection Committee meet with the School Board, the Emergency Measures Officer, Mr. R. Lajoie, Dr. Blatherwick and the Greater Vancouver Regional District regarding emergency procedures. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the Building and Protection Committee set up a meeting with School District No. 43, the Emergency Measures Officer, Mr. R. Lajoie, Dr. Blatherwick of the Simon Fraser Health Unit and the Greater Vancouver Regional Districi: regarding emergency procedures to be carried out following a possible further volcanic eruption of Mt. St. Helen's and the possibility of ash in our area. Carried. Alderman Gates referred to the $8,000.00 remaining In the City budget allocated for the buffer str{p at Brown Street and Marshall Avenue. The City Engineer advised the buffer strip will be planted by the Parks Department in the fall. Alderman Wright advised he attended the Pitt Meadows Day celebrations on behalf of the City on Saturday and stated it was a suceess and that he had a very enjoyable time.
