Ted Johnston, Co-op public re. lations officer, emceed the after. dinner program which included testimonial! tributes from many of Corbin King's former Co-op asso- ciates as well as from numerous present-day co-workers, Miss Nairne Culver, acting in Place of Mrs. Jan McKinnon, who was unable to atiend due to ill ness, presented Mr. and Mrs. King each with an engraved Bulova wrist watch on behalf of the Ter- Tace Co-op staff, Co-op director Floyd Frank then approached the couple and told them he had been instructed by the Board of Co-op Directors and the Terrace Co-op membership to order them to “take off on a holi- day." Mr. Frank presented Mr. King with two return Plane tickets to Hawaii. . Corbin King was raised and ed- ucated in Terrace and began his career with the Co-pperative move: ment during the early 1940's. He and his wife Lillian worked in Pr. Rupert and at Aliford Bay on the Queen Charlotte Islands before returning to Terrace to manage the Co-op outlet here. The Kings have three children, Mr. King has guided the Terrace Co-op from its small beginning, to today’s modern mecea for shoppers and the esteem and respect in which he is held by fellow workers and Co-op mem. bers was evident in words of tri: bute offered Saturday evening by several speakers.
