DuCharme where he is working in the old Agar garage office, and as we entered we found him down on his knees running fine gold lines on a white background. Mr. JhuCharme is an expert mechan- ic and has been working’ for some time ona new alter for the local Catholic church, When we saw it the. alter was almost finished. The gold work and another coat of white would com- plete it. Mr. DuCharme said he had consid- erable trouble securing wood that was sufficiently dry to work without it ehecking. He instanced the main pil- lurs that were made from an old pine fenee post. He found the stick, ex- amined it and saw that it was sound. pillars. ' The workmanship throughout shows great care and ‘skill. the impression of being the work of a | main who not only knows how to do! things but takes a great pride in doing them well. Mr. DuCharme told a story of an interesting life. In the early part of the century he worked in the Cushing shops in Edmonton; tater he was con- tracting around Walnwright, Alta., and still later followed the same oceu- pation in the Peace River country. When the depression came he took to the west a few years ago. In 1934 ‘he arrived in Prince Rupert where he contacted Bishop Bunoz. Since then nearly all his time has been taken up with various works for the Catholic church. He spent quite a time at Sinithers in connection with the church and hospital there; then some time at Hazelton onthe new church ;; built .a tnew ehureh at Port Essington, When ;the work at Essington was finished he linoved to Terrace with his daughter, The Gite That's Different you will find it the Best yet.
