From the City Administrator, August 19th, 1977, referring to the ispecial sprinkling regulations ‘-south of } i } Lougheed Hwy. City Clerk re ‘Alternate Week ‘Council Meet- , ing Schedule special sprinkling regulations adopted at the August 8th, 1977 Council meeting in an effort to combat water pressure problems South of the Lougheed Highway, advising that although well over 200 residents in violation thereof were warned, only one charge had been laid, and stating his understanding that the 10" high pressure main feeding Mary Hill will be back in service during the week of August 22nd; also, a number of connections have been made to the Pitt River Road main which snould help the supply to Mary Hill and improve the pressure, Alderman Mabbett then spoke to the problem of enforcing the sprinkling regulations and stated he had been advised by the City Engineer that his previous employer, the City of Kelowna, used a very successful system of first warning residents in violation of sprinkling regulations, with the next such occurrence resulting in their water being shut off, and then charging a fee for turning it back on again. The City Enginner stated he felt that as the water pressure problem has been improved following re-con- nection of the 10" high-pressure main feeding the Mary Hill area, it would gor Neat now be in order to remove the special sprinkling regulations in effect on the South side of the Lougheed Highway and return to the regular summer sprinkling regulations. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the City Engineer be authorized to remove the special sprinkling regulations imposed by Council at its August 8th, 1977, meeting as soon as he feels it is appropriate for him so to do.
