SUBJECT: Pest and Weed Control

RECOMMENDATION:

That. Council give consideration to passage of the following resolution:

"THAT the undernoted resolution of this Council passed on May 10th,
1982 be amended at the end thereof by striking out the words 'the end of October,
1982' and inserting the words 'November 29th, 1982' so that the resolution will
be altered in the manner set out below:

'THAT the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Environmental Protection
Committee study the need for an alternate method of pest and weed control and prepare
a report by the-end-ef-Getebex;7-i982 November 29th, 1982".

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

It is my understanding that Council wished to take this action due to the
illness of Alderman Vater who represents the Environmental Protection Committee.
Alderman Vater is expected to return to his Council duties within two or three
weeks but if for some reason this does not transpire I believe Mayor Traboulay has
asked Alderman Laking to serve in Alderman Vater's place on the Committee after

that time. Additionally, if any work by the joint Committee is required in the
interim, Alderman Laking will also represent Alderman Vater.
