October 6th, 1975 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C., on October 6th, 1975, at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, and M.A. Thompson in attendance. “Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Planning Officer Lanson Lee, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. Prior to commencement of the Zoning Public Hearing scheduled to be Zoning Public Hear- held at this time with respect to By-law No. 1395 proposed to rezone a ing re B/law #1395 to be 5.4 acre parcel of land bounded by McLean Avenue, Ryan Street, Marshall held sci future date Avenue, and Brown Street from RS-2 (One-Family Suburban Residential) to M-3 (Special Industrial) for office/warehouse use, a report was submitted from Alderman P.F. Ranger recommending that the Hearing be held at a later date in order to give the affected residents an opportunity to express their opinicn on Council's Land Use Policy in the McLean Avenue South area. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That a second Public Hearing for By-law No. 1395 be held at such time that all affected residents have an opportunity te express their opinion on Council's Land Use Policy in the McLean Avenue South area. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Aldermau Ranger advised that he had met with some of the residents affected acd could not answer their query as to where the Industrial area ends South on Brown Street and he stated he thought the Council's Land Use Policy should be discussed before entertaining applications for rezoning. Alderman Laking stated that while he did not disagree with the motion, he hoped that a date could be set for another Hearing on the By-Law so that the matter would not be left in abeyance. Alderman Thompson advised that at the Public Information Meeting held with the residents affected, a number of suggestions were made; however, there has not been time for the City's Planning Officer to react to them; also, he stated that as he felt the Industrial Committee should review the policy it would be unwise to set a time limit with respect to the second Hearing.
