Thank you very much for your letter of May 29th, 1973 bearing the above-
noted file nunber,

If you will refer to our letters of Decenber 23th, 1972 and February
28th, 1973 (photeceptes of witch are attached hereto for your reudy reference)
you will see tiiat our request was not in the nature of a conplain over the
Canadian. Pacific tailway's action in blocking the crossiny - as they continually:
do - but was rather a request Chat the preseat resulations ue reviewed with a
view to making thea sore closely fit present day circunstances.

We thiak that the third paragraph of your letter of ‘fay 23th, 1973 is
rather pertinent:

_ "Ie 48 apparent to the Co:wairtee that the problen resiles not so nuch in
the violations of rule Tequircients as in the frequeacy and length of rrains
using the Louzghead Avenie erosstior."”

and to this we could only add thae the very slow speed of trains clearing the
crossing also adds to the problen.

It ts, therefore, our Council's positicn that the Coniission's present
rezulations with respect to the froquency ef crossing, the length of trains, aad
the speed of trains over ¢l:e crossing need to be reviewed and updated,
