J.K. GORDON came to
Terrace in 1911 and built
the first Terrace hotel,
which opened in 1912.
Gordon was elected to
the first Terrace Village
Commission and became
chairman of it in 1927
when Terrace was in-
corporated into a village.

went on to become a well
known businessman.

Harvey Doll and his
family also arrived in
Terrace in 1927, and
settled at the Ackroyd
farm. Harvey _—just
celebrated his 100th
birthday last month.

And in 1927 Emil
Haugland opened the first
barber shop in Terrace.
Emil was mayor of Ter-
race from 1923-56,

Terrace Boy Scouts group
was formed in 1927,
They too celebrate a 70th
anniversary this year.
