Summer suits and you TERRACE — Bathing suit season is here. This means it is time to pull out your bathing suit and head down to the beach. by Elizabeth Evans Terrace Fashion Columnist There is a guide to help you determine what type of bathing suit would be most appropriate for you ac- cording to your figure type. First of all, if. you are heavier set, your best bet would be.to.. stick with a solid. color: or: a: small ‘Pat- terned suit. Different styles of bathing suits can ‘flatter dif | ferent shapes. For example, legs cut higher can flatter you by giving the illusion of longer and leaner legs. Certain bathing suit styles can flatter-your figure by accentuating or by drawing attention away from figure areas. If you have very few curves, a suit with a pattern would be great. Look for one that pays at- tention to extra details such as a one shoulder strap suit or perhaps one with a more definite waist such as a drawstring or belt. These types of suits are good for defining waistlines. Choose a bathing suit that already has shape in order to enhance your own figure type. If you have a protruding stomach. look for a bathing suit that has extra strength through the mid- die. Remember that heavier fabrics have better sup- port. Blouson styled suits are great for concealing tummies as the extra fabric falls loosely over your stomach rather than clinging to it. If you are top heavy, you are most suited for a style that offers lifting support. Look for a suit with an underwire bra, along with a heavier fabric, This will give you the look you want as well as more durability, If you wish to draw attention towards your bustline, choose a ruffled or frilly suit, as they create the illusion of a larger chest. Keep in mind that ver- tical stripes create height whereas horizontal stripes make you appear broader. Enjoy the sunshine. First impressions are important Expo will probably mean more visitors to the Terrace area... and first impressions are impor- tant. Terrace Mayor Jack Talstra noted that first impression shouldn’t be one of litter. “Instead our visitors should see the real beautiful us.’’ Talstra urges’ local residents to be a part of making Terrace look good... pitch-in and use the new litter baskets which, will be erected in city streets soon. Tourists are important to our community Talstra said, and so are first impressions.
