Other resolutions approved by the meeting called for: © Support of the B.C. Fed- eration of Labour’s fight against Bill 33. © The posting of a speed limit on water channels at Sicamous. e The B.C. Federation of Labour to petition the pro- vincial government to enact legislation outlawing strike- breaking or production work during a legal strike. e A uniform policy to be established for Southern In- terior Local Unions during future industry strikes. © The B.C. Legislature to hold regular spring and fall sessions of the House. e A referendum ballot to be conducted among the mem- bers to bring back the roll call vote at delegated meetings. Recognizing that the cost of everything is going up, the delegates approved a resolu- tion to increase the Local’s per diem from eight dollars a day in British Columbia to ten dollars a day, and from ten dollars a day to twelve dollars a day when outside the province. The meeting also approved an Officers’ recommendation which called for the Local Union to “continue to support the political action program of the B.C. Federation of La- bour and the Canadian La- bour Congress. The Officers’ Report apolo- gized for its briefness by pointing out that negotiations and the series of ballots con- ducted over the past few months made the task of writ- ing a comprehensive report al- most impossible. The Report did, however, make reference to the num- ber of executive meetings and table officers’ meetings held during the year at which the- members’ affairs were looked after. It also noted that the of- ficers had appointed four ad- ditional board members to Bive the areas better repre- sentation. The new board members are Henry Chris- tianson and Ken Schneider from Kamloops; Bob F yall from Merritt and Dick Mor- gan from Monte Lake. The Report, in conclusion, pledged the Local’s support to assist the New Democratic Party during the next year. J. Kelly, Bill Hobbs, R. Bernier, Ted MacDonald, Bob Fyall. B.C. Federation of Labour delegates elected were: A. J. Kelly, R. Bernier, Ted Mac- Donald, John Kelly. NDP convention delegates elected were: J. Kelly, R. Bernier, K. Schneider. During the evening a Smorgasbord Banquet was held in the Stockmen’s Hotel at which a presentation was made to Mrs. McInnes, the former Secretary of the Kam- loops & District Labour Coun- cil, for her unstinting and selfless devotion to the cause of the labour movement. Following the Banquet, the Annual Woodworkers’ Ball was held at the Kamloops Civic Centre where the mem- bers, their wives and friends enjoyed a fine social and night of dancing.
