THE CORPORATION “\F THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM NOV - 1 1993 NOV - 8 1993 A Bylaw to amend the "Port Coquitlam Fire Prevention Bylaw, 1991, No. 2578" The Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: 1. This Bylaw may be cited for all purposes as "Port Coquitlam Fire Prevention Bylaw, 1991, No. 2578, Amendment Bylaw, 1993, No. 2857". "Port Coquitlam Fire prevention Bylaw, 1991, No. 2578" is amended: (a) In Section 1.1, by adding the foliowing definition after the definition of "Building": . - includes the owner, occupier, their agents, and any resident manager of a building containing a fire alarm system or sprinkler system.” In Section 1.1, by adding the following definition after the definition of “Fireworks”: "Fi "| means all equipment forming part of or used in connection with a fire alarm system or fire detection system, including without Limitation batteries, alarm gongs, horns, buzzers, switches, wiring, relay apparatus, sensors and other accessories.” In Section 1.1, adding the following definition after the definition of “Private D iH ". " . includes all equipment forming part of or used in connection Sprinkler System with a fire sprinkler system, including without limitation all heads, valves, piping, switches, sensors, relay apparatus and other accessories.” By adding the following regulations as Sections 2.5.1 through 2.5.5 of the Bylaw: "Se gy 0 Vz : t P : . ad 2.5.1 The owner of any vacant or unoccupied premises shall ensure that the premises are secure against unauthorized entry by any person. 2.5.2 If an officer or a fire prevention officer finds premises which are accessible contrary to Section 2.5.1, the officer or fire prevention officer may contact the owner of the premises and require that the premises be secured against unauthorized entry. If an owner fails to bring the premises into compliance with Section 2.5.1 within 72 hours of receiving notice to do so, or if the officer or fire prevention officer is unable to contact the owner within 72 hours of finding the unsecured premises, the officer or fire prevention officer may have the premises secured by a contractor who may board up or otherwise secure doors, windows and other points of entry into the premises in order to prevent fires.
