THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM Re: Pwe -2~- October 8, 1981 The Committee recognizes that there is a problem and in the past has dealt with this by installing a sign on Fraser Avenue instructing traffic to turn at the end of the street. This sign is totally ineffective, partly because it is unenforceable and partly because drivers fail to see it. The Committee discussed possible solutions. It is not possible to prevent vehicles from turning into Fraser Avenue without extending the median in such a way that it blocks all turns including those of the residents themselves. The construction of curbs would require the road itself to be reconstructed and widened and this is outside the capabilities of the budget. The residents are not prepared to pay for local improvement. Some additional legal signing may be helpful. Therefore, the Committee recommends that signs indicating No U-Turn be placed along the street in conjunction with the sign indicating turns to be made at the end of the street. These No U-Turn signs should be made legal by amending the Traffic Bylaw. The Conmittee also recommends that the Department of Highways be requested to allow @ Sign on the Lougheed Highway indicating the direction of the City center for those visitors who are unsure which way to turn off the Highway. ITEM 11 Re: Relocation of Langan Avenue At the present time Langan Avenue east of Broadway Street is constructed to the point shown on the attached sketch. At the time of construction the proposed final alignment of the road was as shown by Road "B" on the sketch. The purpose of the realignment was to simplify the intersection of Kingsway and Coast Meridian. The intention of the City was to combine the unopen portion of Langan Avenue with the triangular City land shown on the corner and to make some kind of an exchange with the owner of 1815 Coast Meridian for the right-of-way required for Road "B", The owner has approached the City about development of this land. The land is correctly zoned for Industrial and the owner ra building permit. If subdivision is not way of forcing the dedication of Road "BY", To make the exchange desirable from the owner's point of view, it would be necessary to relocate a section of sanitary sewer which is
