September 8th, 1975 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port ‘Toquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C., on September 8th, 1975 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Planning Officer Lanson Lee, Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Senior Building Inspector N. Chernoff, Fire Chief W.s. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Minutes - Aug. 25/75 Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on August 25th, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: The City Clerk advised that Inspector M.A. Young of the Coquitlam Insp.Young, RCMP re R.C.M.P. Detachment was in attendance to give an interim report on the Curfew B/law Curfew and a report was also submitted from the Works & Utilities Superintendent, September 5th, 1975, advising that during the three months the Curfew By-law has been in effect he had observed less vandalism to public buildings, street signs, etc. On invitation from His Worship the Mayor, Inspector Young then reported on the effect of the Curfew By-law during the three months it has been in force and advised of the following comparison made with respect to certain areas of crime: 1974 1975 Breaking & Entering decrease of 2 Theft (over $200.00) 37 Theft (under $200.00) Willful damage (private property) 72 93 Willful damage (public property) 13 13 Inspector Young commented that during the three months period the same areas of crime were noted to be less in the District of Coquitlam, which has no Curfew By-law and where the population is larger than that of the City.
