/4. January 6th, 1975 Alderman Alderman Keryluk addressed the meeting, stating that this was his Keryluk first anniversary since taking office as an Alderman for the City of Port Coquitlam and that he was very happy to be working on behalf of the citizens of Port Coquitlam. Alderman Kervluk expressed his appreciation to Alderman Laking for his assistance as CoChairman on the Industrial and Community Development Committee last year, and that he had enjoyed working as Co-Chairman with Alderman Thompson on the Public Works Committee. Alderman Keryluk mentioned he served as the City's representative on the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board of Managemen*, and that he had been appointed to the Building Committee of the Board which has now selected a site for construction of the new Regicnal Headquarters on the outer fringes of Abbotsford. Alderman Keryluk stated he also served as Council's liaison for the local public library, and advised that the level of service received could be better, but this would require provision of adequate facilities. Alderman Keryluk advised that the City has set aside the old lacrosse box site on Wilson Avenue for construction of a future library, and hopefully this can be started within two years with completion in three or four years. Alderman Keryluk then spoke to the dyking and drainage program which he hoped will be embarked on in 1975 at a cost of eight and one-half million dollars, and although it will provide a far superior system, it is not a guarantee against flooding in the City, and he stated he intended to see that scme Gity funds are spent to ensure a better degree of protection for those citizens living in the flood plain area. Alderman Keryluk then stated that it has been a privilege to have worked on behalf of the citizens of Port Coquitlam over the past year and that he looked forward to a better and busier year in 1975, SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: y Presentation At the request of Mayor Campbell, Alderman Mabbett then presented of gifts to | Premier & Premier Barrett with a gold bracelet and charm for his wife, depicting Mrs. D. Barrett the City's crest as a momento of Port Coquitlam, and Alderman Thompson presented Premier Barrett with a cufflink and tie tack ensemble also depicting the City's crest. Aldermen Ranger and Traboulay then presented Premier Barrett with a painting of the Premier's house on Mary Hill where he had previously resided with his family, and mentioned that the painting had been done by local artist Mr. Alfred zapf.
