pny N es A tat igh ee eae a Mayor and Council DATE: February 15, 1974 FROM: L.D. Pollock, City Administrator RE: Building By-law Council will recall that due to some of past amendments to the Municipal Act municipalities were required to pass a building by-law based on the National Building Code and a model by-law produced by the Province. We have therefore prepared the following by-laws for Council's consideration, the first being the revised building by-law which conforms with the Provincial standards and in addition a house moving by-law which was originally part of our building by-law and which now must be covered by a separate by-law. The new building by-law contains a charge of $150.00 per suite or dwelling unit for parks acquisition fund. Previously this was $50.00 per unit. The building permit fees were revised last year and we have therefore not made any further revisions for 1974. The by~laws are available for first three readings. VEMORANDIM TO: RON FREEMAN DATE: FEBRUARY 14, 1974 LDP :da FROM: N. CHERNOFF As you ate aware we got clarification from the Provincial Government on Building By~law changes. It was specifically pointed out that at the present time the National Building Code and the B. C. Plumbing Code are By-laws in B. C., amendment procedures are also clarified. Our proposed by-law for adoption follows the format as suggested by the Provincial Government with minor revisions. Also included is a House Moving By-law which now becomes a separate entity. Discussions on the Building by-law and the House moving by-law were discussed at length by the 1973 Building and Protection Committee headed by Alderman Thompson. It therefore follows very closely to what was considered for requirements that could be legaily adopted. ea ee “' WN. Chernoff NC/dv Sr. Buiiding Inspector.
