Moved by Alderman Meyer: - Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: “That as recommended in a report from the Health Committee, January lith, 1973, the 1973 Mosquito Control Policy as set forth therein be adopted. Carried. Alderman Thompson, in speaking to the subject, inquired who would be reporting to the Council on the progxamme, and Alderman Meyer stated that tne Simon Fraser Health Unit advised him a person responsible for mosquito control would be employed, who would report to the Director, Dr. J.D. Munroe, and through fr. Munroe to the Council or the Health Committee, whichever is appropriate. Alderman Meyer referred to items: 1, 2, and 3, listed ar the bottom of the last page of the draft agreement submitted by the Fraser Valley Mosquito Control Board, and advised these would be governed by the City's 1973 Mosquito Control Policy. Alderman Meyer also drew attention ‘to Section 4 on Page 4 of the Agreement, and stated the Committee intended to suggest to the Board that the word “invite” as it appears therein be del- eted, and the word "obtain" inserted in its place. Alderman Meyer stated that membership on the Nosquito Control Board would be continued provided some agreement can be worked out which is consistent with the points listed in the City's 1973 Mesquite Control Policy. Aldermen Ranger and Traboulay voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the above-noted resolution, Alderman Ranger reiter- ated his opposition to Section 6 of the By-law, as stated during intial con- sideration thereof at the previous meeting, and Alderman Traboulay concurred with the views expressed by Alderman Ranger and also pointed out the aspect of air pollution resulting from persons being permitted to burn refuse on Plumb.
