Now, after two years of field experience, we're making it work better. We listened to people who work in the forest and care for the forest. More efficient: » reducing the number of operational plans from six to three. a Streamlining planning and approval procedures to maintain a two-year supply of cutting permits for each licensee. « reducing red tape, duplication and paperwork. » more emphasis on results achieved in the field, rather than process and paperwork. More effective: a allowing Forest and Environment ministry staff to spend more time in the field ensuring code is enforced and less time behind a desk. » beefing up enforcement. None of these changes compromise the code’s world-leading environmental standards. Full compliance with the Forest Practices Code is mandatory after June 15, 1997. The Forest Practices Code is a key part of changing the way we manage our forests. itis a living document and we will continue to work together with those who care for the forest to ensure the sustainability of our forests and communities.
