Review HALT THE YANKEE AGRESSORS! BSF ra BS a ia HE long-delayed CBC-TV pro- gram “Cuba Si” is scheduled to be featured on a coast-to-coast showing September 24. Made a year ago the “Cuba Si” and its commentary, written by Vancouver’s Doug Collins was pigeon-holed by CBC’s top brass on the flimsy excuse that it was “unduly sympathetic to the Castro regime”. This high-handed censor- ship by CBC as to what Canadians should or should not see doubt- lessly stemed from Washington’s “disapproval” and echoed by its coldwar lickspittles in Ottawa. Now all has been “fixed” up. “Cuba Si’ ’will be shown, not with the Collins commentary, but with a panel] of brainwashed “experts”, most of them from the U-S. cold-— war press machine, assigned the job for which they are eminently fitted; to “make the best appear the worst” and engender hatred against the people and government ‘of Cuba. This Goebbels war propaganda technique ties in with current U.S. hysteria and war provocations ag&inst Cuba, in its encourage- ment, financing and equipping of Cuban_ counter - revolutionaries, resident in Florida and elsewhere, in their repeated hostile attacks upon Cuba. In addition we now have the U.S. demanding of all NATO allies (including Canada), for a tight embargo and boycott of all trade, shipping or other friend- ly relations with Cuba. Reports already indicate U.S. snooping on the cargoes of foreign shipping destined for Cuba, while U.S. coldwar agents in the ranks F ine ine ite P e fj ib Pacitic Tribune Editor — TOM McEWEN Associate Editor—MAURICE RUSH Business Mgr..OXANA BIGELOW Published weekly at: Room 6 — 426 Main Street Vancouver 4, B.C. Even piracy on the high seas by the hired mercenaries of U.S. im- perialism is openly condoned and encouraged. Under cover of the lying excuse that Cuba is becoming “a Soviet beach-head”’, sabre-rattling U.S. senators and other Pentagon spokesmen are openly calling for all-out war upon Cuba, and im- pudently “chastise” Canada for continuing to trade with an “enemy”? F To this CBC-TV distortion of “Cuba Si” and the U.S. war hy- steria against Cuba with which it is now designed to synchronize, the Canadian people must give one ‘united. determined and unequivo- ca] reply: — HANDS OFF CUBA x UST a few short weeks ago on the verdict of an Israeli court, the nazi butcher Adolph Eichmann was hanged. His crime, genocide; the planned nazi extermination of six million Jewish people. Almost. too monstrous to comprehend, but the world of decent humanity ap- proved of the Israeli verdict. Just about the time the genocide Eichmann was dangling on the end of a well-deserved rope, the sover- eign state of Virginia, U.S.A. en- acted a law, (quite “voluntary” of course), legalizing the steriliza- tion of “indigent” citizens. Under this openly. fascist law, every person, every parent on re- lief or welfare rolls is a potential victim. Every poor Negro mother (and poor Negroes predominate in Virginia) as well as poor white, ‘Water’ resources pees the last fiscal year the Socred government netted a $29.1 million profit on liquor sales, $14, million more than finance minister W-A.C. had hoped for, and a good $1 million up from the pre- vious year’s “take’’. At our guess, that record profit would be approximately $20 mil- lion net on pure water ,with liquor making up the balance. At that, ‘statistic-wise, it means that every man. woman and child in the pro- vince lapped up some $65 worth of Socred liquids during the year. (And that $65 per doesn’t include the thousands of dollars taken from the consumer because he (or she) didn’t consume their Socred’ Comment are and can be facea with offici@ intimidation to “voluntary” agteé ment. to sterilization. _ Editor James E. The country needed ships to “carry the tools of victory” so Mc- Cone put a $100,000 investment in the Liberty ship syndicate and long before the war ended Mc- ’ Cone’s hundred-grand had swelled into a $44 million return. Who says war (like crime) doesn’t pay? There is no scarcity of these “pay-triots” in our. own backyard, as may be seen in the projected re-opening probe into the sale of shares in the Northern Ontario Natural Gas Company, because of new evidence dug up by the B.C. Securities Commission. We note for instance, that Ralph, K. Farris, a scion of one of our most distinguished families, got himself a block of NONGC shares for the modest sum of $300, part of which when sold, netted him $318,000 in cold cash. The other part, some 15,000 shares still held by Mr. Farris, have a_ present “market” value of $240,000. Total boodle on an original $300 “in- vestment”’, $558,000. Not bad at all. With a dull pencil and any old Scrap of paper Junior can figure it out quick as a wink. Shares. “bought” at 8-cents per or less and sold at $12 or more, all adds up to giving the natural gas consumer in, Ontario, B.C. or elsewhere, a pro- per gassing. The initial probe into this gas monopoly showed “about. 40 persons made profits totalling $15-million” or thereabouts. Following the first probe of this gas octopus Mr. Farris and a U.S. tycoon were “fined” $500-for ‘‘fail- ing to file a company prospectus’, but Magistrate Thomas Elmore of Toronto who presided, ruled that ‘no moral wrong had been done” since others who had bought Nor- thern Ontario Natural Gas shares “had also made a good profit on their investment.” The “moral” is (but don’t get the morals mixed), that “no moral wrong” is done by fleecing the gas consumer. Just load it on for “all the traffic will bear’ and if any probers turn on too much heat, just cool it off with a trifling “fine”, like say, $500 for stealing a million? The value of such “probes” is not to reveal to the people that _ they have been robbed. That they know only too well. Its value lies in the fact that the robbery (and the robbers) have been judicially recognized and confirmed. The rest is up to the people? * * * When the Right Reverend Hugh ' “religion” of the New -Ca A.
