Pynenburg ) PROJECT: No. 410 Project Technician SUBJECT: BARRIER INSTALLATION ALONG JERVIS ST. AT KITCHENER FOOTPATH Install approximately 40m of "No Post” concrete guardrail on Jervis St. at the comer of Jervis and Kitchener parallel to the Kitchener footpath at a cost of $3,000. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Attached is a letter from a resident.at 2575 Kitchener Ave. requesting that the Engineering dept. install a concrete barrier along Jervis St. parallel to the Kitchener footpath. The resident is concerned that cars travelling east along Kitchener are failing to negotiate the righthand tum onto Jervis St. The result is cars either go Straight forward over the embankment onto the footpath or they loose control and roll down the embankment into the property at 3472 Kitchener. (See map) | There is an existing waming sign (WA-8R) posted on Jervis at the end of Kitchener to wam motorists of the abrupt change of alignment at the night tum. The existing footpath, used by children attending Westwood Elementary School on Hastings St., can be entered on a angle from Jervis St. in front of the property at 3472 Jervis.(See map and photos) © Several residents informed me that there have been numerous accidents at this location. The need for pedestrian safety, particularly school children, warrants the installation of concrete barriers.
