HYDRANTS AND STANDPIPES

No person shall install any hydrant on any land without first
submitting plans for approval to the City Engineering Department’ and
until the plans submitted have been stamped for approval.

The calculations of required water supply for a hydrant shall be as
required in Schedule C to Subdivision Bylaw No. 2241 - .Design
Criteria Water Distribution System - Section 3 - Article 3.1.2. Fire

Demand.

No portion of any building other than one or two family dwelling
shall be further than 150 metres from a fire hydrant when the
building has not been provided with a sprinkler system in accordance
with "Port Coquitlam Building and Plumbing Bylaw, 1991, No. 2568".

A fire hydrant must be installed within 45 metres of a fire
department connection to 4 building which is sprinklered.

All private hydrants must conform to all standards set out in City's
Subdivision Servicing Bylaw No. 2241 - Schedule D to Subdivision
Bylaw No. 2241 Construction Specifications ~ Section 2 Waterworks -
Article 2.2.7 Fire Hydrants.

The owner of every hydrant shall not less than twice a year have all
components of the hydrant inspected, serviced and tested by a
qualified technician.

The owner of every hydrant shall keep the ground surface around the
hydrant clear of shrubs, trees, structures and other obstructions of

any kind.

Unauthorized attachments found on standpipes or hydrants may be
confiscated by an Officer.

Excepting employees of the City acting within the scope of their
duties, no person shall make use of standpipes or hydrants without |
first obtaining a permit from the Engineering Department.
