SUBJECT: Rezoning R#2~81 - Metro Motors Rezoning
Public Works Committee, January 26th, 1982

RECOMMENDATION:

That the sum of $10,000 be placed in the Provisional
Budget for cost sharing of 29% of the road and curb on Hastings

Street.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

As a result of a delegation from Mr. Glen McKone to
Council, the Public Works Committee was asked to make a
recommendation on cost sharing. The portion of the total
frontage of the road to be constructed which is not part of
Metro Motors is 29%. The Committee feels that the construction
of storm sewer to the property being rezoned and a street light
is 100% the responsibility of the developer. However, the
Committee feels that it would be appropriate for the City to
pay the cost of the work on the frontage of the Department of
Highways Works Yards in order to get the road completed. The
revised cost for the total work required by Metro Motors is
about $50,000. Therefore the City would be sharing in about
one-fifth of the total cost if this recommendation were approved.
