WHEREAS under and by virtue of Section 200 of the "Municipal Act", being Chapter 255 of the Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1960, and Amendments thereto, the Council may by by-law provide for paying out of the annual revenue an indemnity to the Mayor and Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, and may provide that a portion of the said indemnity to be paid to the Mayor and Aldermen shall be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of their respective offices; NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: 1. There shali be paid to the Mayor of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam in the year 1978 an indemnity of Sixteen Thousand Five Hundred ($16,500.00) Dollars per annum of which said indemnity the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred ($5,500.00) Dollars shall be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of his office. 2. There shall be paid to each of the Aldermen of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam in the year 1978 an indemnity of Five Thousand Seven Hundred Fifteen ($5,715.00) Dollars per annum of which said indemnity the sum of One Thousand Nine Hundred Five ($1,905.00) Dollars shall be paid as an allowance for expenses incidental to the discharge of the duties of his office. 3. The indemnity provided’ for in Sections One (1) and Two (2) hereof shail be paid monthly by the City Treasurer to the person or persous entitled to receive same without order or resolution of the Council save and except as hereinafter provided. . 4, Should any member of Council be absent from four (4) consecutive regular Council meetings or more, the indemnity that would be due were he not so absent shall not be paid to him except by unanimous vote of the remainder of the members of Council. 5. This By-law may be cited for all purposes as the "Council Indemnity By-law, 1978, No. 1596".
